Béchamel Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups whole milk

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground pepper

1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions
 

  • Melt butter over medium heat until glossy but not browned.
    Whisk in flour and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until smooth.
    Gradually add warm milk while whisking constantly.
    Cook until thickened, stirring often.
    Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, then remove from heat.
