Classic Waldorf Salad

Fresh, crisp, and irresistibly creamy, this Classic Waldorf Salad brings sweet crunch to every bite. It is the perfect make ahead dish for holidays, brunch, or a light lunch.

Ingredients
  

2 cups diced crisp apples

1 cup seedless red grapes, halved

1/2 cup finely sliced celery

1/2 cup toasted walnuts, chopped

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon honey or sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Butter lettuce leaves for serving, optional

Instructions
 

  • Toast walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently, then cool completely.
    Dice apples and toss immediately with lemon juice in a large bowl.
    Halve grapes and slice celery thinly. Add to the bowl with apples.
    In a small bowl, whisk mayonnaise, honey or sugar, salt, and pepper until smooth.
    Pour dressing over the fruit and nuts, then gently fold until evenly coated.
    Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve over lettuce if desired.
