Ingredients
  

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups conversation heart candies, lightly crushed

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
    Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    Mix in egg and vanilla until smooth.
    Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
    Add dry ingredients to wet mixture and mix just until combined.
    Spread dough evenly onto prepared baking sheet.
    Sprinkle and gently press conversation hearts into the dough.
    Bake 18 to 22 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
    Cool completely, then break into bark-style pieces and serve.
