Decadent Danish Carnival Buns with Vanilla Cheesecake Delight

These Danish carnival buns are soft, creamy, and bakery-worthy with a vanilla cheesecake surprise in every bite. One batch and your kitchen will smell like a Scandinavian café.

Ingredients
  

3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup warm whole milk

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

1 large egg

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 teaspoon salt

8 ounces cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 egg yolk

1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon milk

Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions
 

  • Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast and let it foam for 5 to 7 minutes.
    Add egg, butter, salt, and flour and knead until smooth and elastic.
    Cover and let the dough rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
    Beat cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and egg yolk until smooth and chill briefly.
    Roll dough into a rectangle, spread filling, roll tightly, and slice into buns.
    Let buns rise for 30 minutes, brush with egg wash, and bake at 375°F for 18 to 22 minutes.
    Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
