Deliciously Flaky Cheese Danish

Fresh from the oven and perfectly golden, this flaky cheese danish tastes just like your favorite bakery treat. One bite of the creamy filling and buttery layers will make your morning feel extra special.

Ingredients
  

1 sheet puff pastry (about 225 g or 8 oz)

225 g cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 egg yolk

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 whole egg

1 tbsp milk

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1–2 tbsp milk

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    Roll the puff pastry slightly and cut into six rectangles.
    Score a small border around each pastry without cutting all the way through.
    In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, egg yolk, vanilla, and lemon juice until smooth.
    Spoon the filling into the center of each pastry rectangle.
    Whisk egg and milk together and brush along the pastry edges.
    Bake for 15–18 minutes until the pastry becomes golden and puffed.
    Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to create a glaze.
    Drizzle glaze over the slightly cooled pastries and serve warm.
