Malasadas (Hawaiian Donuts) – Ultimate Soft Fluffy Hawaiian Treat Recipe

Fresh homemade malasadas are soft, fluffy, and impossible to resist. One bite of these Hawaiian-style donuts will make every weekend feel like a tropical vacation.

Ingredients
  

4 cups all-purpose flour

2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast

¾ cup warm whole milk

¼ cup granulated sugar

3 large eggs

¼ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ teaspoon salt

Vegetable oil for frying

1 cup granulated sugar for coating

Instructions
 

  • Combine warm milk, yeast, and a little sugar in a bowl. Let sit until foamy.
    Mix in eggs, butter, vanilla, salt, and remaining sugar.
    Gradually add flour and knead until the dough becomes soft and elastic.
    Cover the dough and let it rise until doubled in size.
    Roll out the dough and cut into rounds.
    Let the dough rounds rise again until puffy.
    Heat oil to 350°F and fry the malasadas until golden brown on both sides.
    Drain briefly on paper towels.
    Roll warm malasadas in sugar and serve immediately.
