Meatball Subs Recipe

These meatball subs are loaded with juicy meatballs, melted cheese, and savory marinara sauce. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner that everyone will love.

Ingredients
  

1 lb. ground beef

1/2 lb. Italian sausage, casing removed

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried basil

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 cups marinara sauce

4 sub rolls, lightly toasted

1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions
 

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.

Form mixture into 1 1/2-inch meatballs and brown on all sides in a skillet with olive oil.

Transfer meatballs to a saucepan with marinara sauce. Simmer for 20 minutes.

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice and lightly toast sub rolls.

Place 3–4 meatballs in each roll and spoon sauce over them. Sprinkle mozzarella on top.

Bake 5–7 minutes until cheese melts; broil 1–2 minutes if desired.

Garnish with parsley and serve immediately.

    Notes

    • Freeze meatballs in sauce.
    • Store assembled subs wrapped in the fridge for 2 days.
    • Try buffalo or mini slider variation.
    • Pair with cold beer.
