Miso Salmon

Sweet, savory, and packed with umami flavor, this miso salmon recipe tastes like a restaurant dish you can make at home. It is quick, impressive, and perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)

3 tablespoons white miso paste

2 tablespoons mirin

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon honey (optional)

2 green onions, sliced

1 teaspoon sesame seeds

1 tablespoon neutral oil (for pan cooking)

Instructions

  • Whisk together miso paste, mirin, soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and honey in a bowl until smooth.
Pat salmon fillets dry and place them in a shallow dish. Spread the marinade evenly over the salmon.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes to allow the flavors to absorb.
Preheat oven to 400°F or heat a skillet over medium heat with neutral oil.
Bake salmon for 10–12 minutes or cook in a skillet for about 4–5 minutes per side.
Broil for 1–2 minutes if baking to caramelize the glaze.
Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
