Quick Black Folks Southern Cabbage (Easy Soul Food Recipe)

Quick Southern cabbage made easy with bold flavor and tender bites that taste like home in every forkful.

Ingredients
  

1 large head green cabbage (about 2–2.5 lbs / 900–1,100 g), chopped

4 slices bacon or smoked turkey, chopped

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 medium yellow onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup chicken broth (120 ml)

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Wash and chop cabbage, then prep onion, garlic, and meat.
    Cook bacon or smoked turkey in a large skillet until flavorful.
    Add butter, onion, and garlic; sauté until fragrant.
    Add cabbage and stir to combine with seasonings.
    Pour in broth, season, cover, and simmer 10–12 minutes.
    Remove lid, adjust seasoning, and serve warm.
