Ingredients

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

2 ½ tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs, at room temperature

1 cup whole milk, at room temperature

2 tsp rose water

¼ tsp pink food coloring

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream

¼ cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 8-inch round pans with greasing and parchment paper.
Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl and set aside.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3–4 minutes.
Beat in eggs one at a time, then add rose water, vanilla, and food coloring until smooth.
Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with dry ingredients. Mix gently.
Divide batter evenly between pans and bake 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form. Keep chilled.
Assemble the cake by spreading frosting between layers, then frost the top and sides. Decorate as desired.
