Slow Cooker Beef Manhattan turns humble ingredients into pure comfort with tender beef and rich gravy. Perfect for busy days when you still want a cozy, satisfying dinner.

Ingredients
  

2.5 lb beef chuck roast, cut into large chunks

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced

2 cups beef broth

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon salt

0.5 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

2 tablespoons cornstarch

2 tablespoons water

Thick-sliced white or sourdough bread for serving

Instructions
 

  • Season beef with salt and pepper, then sear in olive oil until browned on all sides.
    Transfer beef to slow cooker and top with sliced onions.
    Whisk broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and garlic powder, then pour over beef.
    Cook on low for 7 to 8 hours or high for 4 to 5 hours until tender.
    Stir in cornstarch slurry during the last 30 minutes to thicken gravy.
    Serve beef and gravy hot over thick slices of bread.
